The best subs around! Makes that trendy boca sub place look la-awful! This is where its at! Their fries are also soooo amazing! If you want a sub, hot or cold, you want it from John Smith Subs!

Disappointed in these subs. Tuna fish was just OK and my wife's chicken teriyaki was messy and unappetizing. Main criticism is the bread. Very mushy. More like a dinner roll than what you would expect at a good deli. Also felt that based on quality and quantity, subs were pricey. The surroundings were clean and comfortable and the service was quite fast.

If you're trying to eat healthy, you're better off eating anywhere else but here. They're lettuce wraps being the healthiest is a piece of cabbage with three slices of meat, two small slices of tomato more shredded lettuce all for the ridiculous price of $6. This should be a last resort type of place for subs in Boca.

Dropped by here with the Orphans 4 for lunch today! Once again we were very satisfied as we all ordered different variations of their Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches. A very satisfying meal indeed tasty fresh what more can I say! My buddy Rick got home and got a real friendly reception from his Doggie who sniffed him all over as like all of us he smelt like a Philly C S sandwich!! This has been our go to place for a quick take out occasionally and it always has been good the Chicken or Beef Bomb Sandwiches are also excellent! Ready for a nap now!

So much better than the other typical chains. I know this is a chain (small), but it makes you feel like it's a mom and pop place. The owner (Lou I guess) is so nice and he only hires the nicest staff. Oh, and they have the best subs. By far, the best cheese steak I've ever had. Definitely give it a try.

If I could give more stars I would. I've been coming to this John Smith subs since I can remember. My trips here number in the hundreds if not thousands. I've tried most of the menu but my go to is the cheeseburger sub. It's my comfort food. Everything here is awesome especially the fries! Also, ask for the fries well done because it just makes something amazing that much better. All the staff there is nice, it's mostly younger kids I'm guessing high school or college but they're all very professional and run a clean restaurant when the owner isn't there (which is rare). Lou is the man! He's owned it a long time and hes always maintained the quality I've grown to crave. There's a reason why there's so many regulars that know him by name, and he knows them too. I've never been to any other John Smith subs but I bet they don't match up to this one. It doesn't feel like a chain restaurant at all. The place has more of a one of a kind feel. If you're in the west boca area and feel like having a darn good sub I recommend no one except this place.

    Good alternative to Subway.

I grew up on John Smith Subs and every time I go back home to Boca I'm at it again. Lou is a great guy, as hardworking and kind hearted as can be. The atmosphere is relaxed, easy casual and hasn't changed in forever- just the way I like it. The food is to die for. I always get either a steak cheese and onion, steak bomb, or cheeseburger sub. My mom swears by the tuna, and I have friends who eat everything from the teriyaki to the cold cuts. Super fresh veggies, hot items cooked on the hot top right when you order, fries fried to perfection and the softest buns. A+++ as always.

Call me crazy but I'm a Philly boy who actually enjoys a Jon Smith steak sandwich. It's nothing like a Philly cheese steak but it's pretty good for what it's worth. I haven't tried anything else there and I probably never will. However, the steak and cheese with grilled onions is pretty good. The bread is pretty soft, but like most places they freeze it. I love putting my fries in the sandwich too. The only cons would be they usually skimp on the meat and cheese and they play horrible music there. Other than that, it's a great alternative to a real Philly cheese steak when it comes to chains. Them and Jersey Mike's are next to next in the unauthentic chain steak sandwiches. Remember NOTHING like a real Philly but a nice alternative.

I have been coming here for many years, and the food has always been super delicious and high quality!! I've NEVER had a bad meal here not once, and the prices are reasonable like most other sub places. The Manager, Lou, has been the same Manager for many years as well! Bottomed line: You won't find a sub place as good as this!! I recommend the BBQ Steak & Cheese sub (with Provolone)!

  • Jen G.

Note to the owner- if/when someone orders a veggie sub (hot or cold), don't skimp on the cheese. I get that it'll save you money, but for Allah's sake, it's what makes the sub when you skip the meat. Sauteed mushrooms, onions, peppers and tomatoes with melted cheese could be an easy 4 or 5 star sub, but when there's hardly any provolone cheese on it, it's a waste and a rip-off. Don't make me go to Jersey Mikes instead! Would give it one more try cause I'm a sucker for hot veggie sandwiches, but if it's the same, no mas.

I just don't really have any positives to say about Jon Smith's Subs. The food is bland, price is high, and it's nothing pretty to look at. It doesn't have any factor that makes it truly terrible, nevertheless, this is just one place I'd avoid. I've only gotten cheesesteaks from here and I'm not impressed at all. The bread is soft, they barely put any meat in the cheesesteak whatsoever and it's pretty flavorless. The whole cheesesteak just doesn't come together, not a good ratio of cheese to meat to vegetables. Overall this is a pretty tasteless and flavorless sub. I've had it with bacon before too, and it isn't crunchy, and just seems like they threw it on top without even cooking it; yuck! Service is very slow. There is never anyone in here when I've come, and it somehow takes them a while to make the food. Pricing could be a lot cheaper considering how much meat they put in their subs. It just isn't a good enough product to justify that cost. There is no real good reason to come here. Food (C-), Pricing (D), Atmosphere (C), Service (C+)

Great sub shop! They are close to work and allow for call-in orders which is convenient. My favorite hot sub is the teriyaki glazed chicken sub. It's basically a chicken Philly with teriyaki sauce, it's pretty legit. They also have really awesome tuna. The bread is nice and soft and for an extra cost they have really awesome fries or chips you can grab as a side. The service is always great and they even offer a discount for plaza employees. An awesome alternative to the big chain sub shops.

We got to try this place out today. It is so much better than Jersey Mike's!! The bread was really fresh and tasty. The turkey and bacon on the sub were good too. I was impressed by this quick sandwich shop. I should also mention that the sizes are huge. We got one full sized sandwich to split between the two of us and we were so full after that. We tried some of their fries as well which were also pretty tasty. I would definitely recommend this one if you need a sandwich fix!

This is by far my favorite sub restaurant. From the staff at the front to Lou the cook. Quality is excellent!

  • Michael O.

Been eating here since its opening. When I crave a steak sandwich this place is a great alternative to the Philly type places which for me are not worth the drive unless I'm the area. Owner is a nice guy. For a short while years ago he sold it and it went down hill till he bought it back. Overall there sandwiches are delicious!

Fresh, Fast, Friendly and Clean. Call ahead ordering to pick up or eat in. Never unhappy with the variety of choices on the menu, and their cooked-to-order promise. One of the best Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches ever had. Fresh white or whole wheat option for sub rolls of either 6 inch or foot long. Fresh salads available as well. Their tuna is by far the best I've EVER had! You can't go wrong with Jon Smith Subs!

All the Jon Smith's in Broward closed years ago, this is the southernmost one in Palm Beach County. I used to like the steak subs until I ordered it without mayo, then realized it was kind of bland...if a sub needs mayo than that doesn't work in my book. The Pastrami & Cheese subs are still excellent, so now when I go (about once a month) I always get that. (never tried the other sandwiches). All you can drink Coke fountain sodas/iced tea are a plus. The franchisee owner of this place is very good, probably works there 6 days a week, and he keeps the quality consistent. I have to knock off a star for one thing, however...force-fed country music. That's Jon Smith's fault, however...apparently the franchise agreement requires the operators to have country music playing 24/7...kind of passe in light of S. Florida changing demographics, don't you think? You could pass by this place if you're not paying attention...its behind the Mobil gas on the west side of 441, just north of Glades Rd and across from the Best Buy on the other side of 441.

John Smith Subs has been tucked away in Mission Bay Plaza facing the Mobil Gas Station for literally 10 years. I've been ordering sandwiches from this place since I was literally in 8th grade. Their sandwiches and french fries (made to order) are honestly some of the best kept secrets in West Boca. Fresh and Consisten, always. The Steak & Cheese and The Chicken Bomb are my favorites. The owner is a great guy also! If you haven't been here before, try it out! If you've been here before leave a review!
